Under the general direction of the Chief of Community Engagement and Grants, the Mental Health Fellow (Peer) renders expert assistance as a consultant on Mental Health programs and performs other related work. The Fellow will use their voice and expertise as a mental health or substance use disorder peer to infuse best practices into the Commission’s policy-making, programs and planning activities. The Fellow will utilize their crucial perspective to ensure the work of the Commission is relevant, timely and reflective of needs and emerging trends in the mental health field.

JC-426777 – Health Program Specialist II
HEALTH PROGRAM SPECIALIST II

Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager II, the Health Program Specialist II (HPS II) will serve as the working lead over a team of Health Program Specialist I’s (HPS I) tasked with grant management for programs which are supported by state funding. The working lead will report directly to the SSM II on all matters pertaining to the programs within the unit which include nine state and local advocacy contracts, Early Psychosis Intervention, allcove™ Youth Drop-In Centers, and Mental Health Wellness Act grants. The HPS II will be responsible for the following duties: 1) Meet weekly with HPS I staff assigned to contract monitoring of the grantees, 2) Keep the SSM II informed about challenges to implementation, program successes, and strategies to enhance and sustain the programs, 3) Act as liaison between the programs and the MHSOAC evaluation staff, 4) Act as liaison between the programs and other state agencies involved with the project areas, 5) Act as liaison between the program and the Technical Assistance providers to ensure that contract deliverables are completed and the statewide collaboration is operating successfully, coordinate learning collaboratives, maintain consistent monitoring practices among programs, and keep them informed of challenges to implementation and success of the program, 6) Create and present information and materials to the Commission on the progress of the programs and strategies for continuous quality improvement and assist in the creation of legislative reports, 7) Provide high level analysis of the effectiveness of programs and make recommendations to staff and the Commission on future mental health policy as it relates to advocacy, early psychosis, integrated mental health approaches for youth, and crisis prevention and intervention.
